All About Mountain Modern Pocono Homes
Introducing our new line of Mountain Modern homes.
What is “Mountain Modern”?
Mountain Modern Architecture is a trend in mountain home living that is defined by openness, light, simplicity and low-maintenance. It’s a style that’s taken a foothold in the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest over the past several years that we’ve brought to the Pocono Mountains.
The wood-laden cabin with a single vaulted ceiling has given way to a design style that embraces style, space, texture, color and the mountain outdoors all in equal proportion to bring a new look and warmth to Pocono living.
Our contemporary mountain homes are more open, brighter and have better flow. We use warmer, textured materials, such as stone and wood, along with black and gray accents in ways that compliment light-colored walls, elegant finishes and stylish décor. We use lighting and multiple vaulted ceilings to add space and light, which not only makes a home feel bigger, but makes it feel warmer and reaches up and out to bring the outdoors in.
We’ve made it a style that pays homage to traditional Pocono Mountain living but with a modern flare that brings more elements together to make the house more attractive, functional and valuable.
Since we’ve been the leader in the wildly popular chalet style home in the Poconos for decades and the innovator in helping buyers into their ideal custom Pocono home with our no gimmicks, no hidden costs and no surprises policy, it only makes sense that we’d be the ones to lead the way in bringing Mountain Modern architecture to the Pocono Mountains.

1. Unique Exteriors
Sharp lines, elegant slopes, stone, wood and glass come together to define the visual presentation of Mountain Modern homes. Common styles such as cabins, classic A-frames and cottages framed in wood and wrapped in wood or vinyl siding are familiar, but haven’t exactly come a long way over the last 100 years. Enter Mountain Modern architecture. It’s exciting because it offers a fresh take on the classic mountain home. The sharp, modern edges and elegant glass take landscape and nature into consideration. It’s not just an afterthought.
2. Uncluttered Layout
An uncluttered layout helps make space open and inviting. Gone are the days when a mountain home meant a wall full of hunting trophies and antler chandeliers. Mountain Modern homes are all about clean lines, tall ceilings, open interiors, warm niches and great views. Less but larger, impactful décor compliment the design while cutting down on the clutter.
3. Windows and Light
One of the most important features of a Mountain Modern homes is light, both interior and natural. You’ll see more windows of different shapes and sizes that vary according to the angles of the roof, and use of uniquely-shaped fixed glass windows to fill spaces that would have otherwise been left vacant in days past.
You’ll see windows continuing around corners, or standing in line side-by-side, or columns of glass that frame a fireplace or sitting area. And why not? If you’re building a mountain home, chances are you want to see as much of the surrounding landscape and natural beauty as possible.
4. Texture and Color
Natural textures bring the beauty of the outside in. If you love light and neutral colors, you’ll love Mountain Modern homes. They’re a departure from the days of dark wood ceilings or the deep-colored paint of an accent wall. Instead, the design emphasis is placed on the building materials. From textured wood to smooth glass to rough stone, the building materials transition from being just part of the design to becoming part of the décor. Mountain Modern homes accentuate the textures of natural products with accents that pop. From warm woods framed by black windows and fascia on the exterior, to dark counters and railings on the interior, the style inverts otherwise popular color schemes and emphasizes texture as well as color.
So rather than smothering the house in finishes and colors that ignore texture and overpower the details of a home, Mountain Modern design encourages the natural elements and textures of the materials themselves to make the home shine.
5. Indoor/Outdoor Living
What’s the point of having a mountain home if you totally ignore your outdoor space? Mountain Modern homes think of outdoor space as part of the living space, which can mean more doors and windows and more light. Gone are the days of decks surrounded by handrails and spindles that obstruct views and in are decks and patios that are inviting, living and seating space complimented with a built-in firepit, fireplace or even a pizza oven. Mountain Modern homes are all about reaping the benefits of a mountain escape.
6. Low Maintenance and Efficiency in Design
Mountain Modern homes work hard to require less maintenance with simple lines, uncomplicated roof systems, and durable materials that are designed to stand the test of time and nature. They are not just energy-efficient, but they are energy-smart. They heat and cool well and make use of light and energy effectively and efficiently to create spaces that are comfy and cozy.
7. A Smart Investment
Mountain Modern homes are the next legacy style mountain home. Much like chalets, they are one of the very few home styles that will retain their value and outpace the value and demand of other styles of homes. Smart, elegant designs and energy efficiency never go out of style.
